We are happy to be the only music and art campus in the area, and look forward to our continuing growth.
Our Company History:
Established in 1982, A & A Music Academy has continued to provide private music instruction to all ages by professional musicians. Degreed faculty members teach everything from beginning music skills to advanced classical and jazz improvisation techniques. We teach piano, organ, keyboards, accordion, guitar, voice, drums, band and orchestral instruments.
The school opened in a 1400 square foot location in Schaumburg's Salem Plaza. The faculty consisted of Don and Anita and the students totaled about 40 per week. Within a few months the faculty had increased to 8 and the school had over 200 students per week. Anita, the administrator of the school, contacted the Hanover Park, Bartlett, Streamwood, and Hoffman Estates Park Districts and offered to teach piano programs for them. The group programs became very popular at all locations and are still maintained today.
As the school increased in size, it was relocated to a larger facility in Hoffman Estates on Hassell Road. There it grew to a size of about 550 students per week with a faculty of 18 teachers. A & A Music also began selling instruments and renting band and orchestral instruments to school aged children. The retail side of the business was very helpful in providing all materials necessary for the music student.
In 1993 the facility was closed, and a search was made for a permanent facility. It became apparent that in order to provide quality instruction at a quality facility the school would need its own building. In 1995 a building was purchased in the Hanover Park Historical District. The building was renovated to include 6 studios, a waiting room area, and a shop area for piano repairs.
Today the studio handles 14 faculty members and about 350 students per week. With four park districts programs feeding into the school, the enrollment is growing rapidly. The reputation of the school is one of quality instruction and careful attention to each individual student. Recitals are given regularly at local churches and libraries. A & A Music Academy is a member of the Illinois Music Association and participates in their annual competition as well as other area competitions each year.
